Dr. Jim Bierman
Dr. Bierman is a native of Los Angeles, California. He is a licensed clinical psychologist in California and registered in New Zealand, with 22 years of clinical experience. He has worked with individual children and adults, couples, families, and groups across the age range, in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Dr. Bierman currently provides clinical supervision for doctoral candidates in Hong Kong at Alliant University, CityU/SCOPE. He is also teaching postdoctoral students in China through the Chinese American Psychoanalytic Alliance (CAPA).
Dr. Bierman has practiced in Los Angeles, Seattle, London, and rural northern California. He received his PhD from the California Graduate Institute in Los Angeles with specialized training in object relations theory and primitive mental states. His advanced postdoctoral training was at University of Washington School of Medicine Parent Evaluation Training Program. As a certified parent evaluator, he is qualified to evaluate parents in high-conflict child custody cases and to make recommendations to the Court for residential placement of children.
Dr. Bierman is a long-time advocate for early intervention. He has spoken internationally on this subject and continues to reach out to the community to promote mental health.
