Jean Chan

Jean is an experienced Speech and Language Therapist with a decade’s experience gained in Australia, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong. Fluent in Cantonese and English, Jean graduated from the University of Sydney, Australia with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Speech Pathology and is certified by the Speech Pathology Australia Association as well as the Hong Kong Association of Speech Therapists.

Jean currently practices in private clinics and a non-government organisation, providing assessments, reviews and therapy for children with a range of speech, language and social communication difficulties individually and in groups. Jean strongly believes in collaborative teaching. She believes working in conjunction with parents and teachers to effectively evaluate and modify strategies for each individual child.

Jean also has experience working in London with the UK National Health Service, providing assessments, reviews and therapy at health centres and schools focusing on children. She liaised closely with teachers and parents to support students with communication, speech and language difficulties, implementing the Total Communication approach. She also worked in hospitals and nursing homes to support adults with communication and swallowing difficulties.

Jean’s clinical expertise lies in working with clients with special needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Downs Syndrome. She has particular interests in early intervention, speech sound disorders, specific language impairment, global developmental delay and autism.
