Sarah Connellan is a Registered Dietitian with the Health and Social Care Professional Council of Ireland (CORU) and a member of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute (INDI). Sarah graduated from University College Cork (Ireland) with a degree in Applied Psychology, and has subsequently been awarded a Masters of Science in Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics from University College Dublin (Ireland), as well as a Masters in Nutrition from Roehampton University (UK).
Sarah has 10 years’ experience working with children and families in a variety of multidisciplinary organisations including the NHS and Public Health England, in the UK, and the HSE, in Ireland. She has extensive training and experience in paediatric nutrition, including the following;
· feeding/eating difficulties
· faltering growth
· obesity/weight management
· eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder
· autistic spectrum disorders
· food hypersensitivity
Sarah often utilises behavioural techniques when working with children with learning and behavioural difficulties to improve their diet and health and to support families to implement changes. In her spare time, Sarah volunteers with Mind HK to offer expertise on body image and how to support mental health and wellbeing through diet and lifestyle.
Sarah also works with adults to help cope with diet-related conditions, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, IBS and eating disorders, and is available by appointment at Central Health Medical Practice and Southside Family Health Centre.
