Occupational Therapy

The CDT’s occupational therapists have extensive experience working with children and adolescents with a variety of challenges including organisational, executive functioning, fine and gross motor, sensory, and developmental.

Our occupational therapy room allows our therapists to address their challenges in a fun, engaging, and safe environment. Our therapists, like others in the team, strongly believe in promoting strengths and highlighting progress to ensure the motivation of the individual and their caregivers. Once a care plan has been designed, our therapists work closely with caregivers and educators to ensure that the individual is being supported across the environments in which they function.

Therapy intervention sessions support a child’s motor skills as well as sensory processing and executive functioning skills through play. These sessions are one-on-one with the child, and at times may include the caregivers as observers.

Evaluations

Our occupational therapy team provide sensory motor and handwriting evaluations.

Groups

The occupational therapy team organises groups throughout the year which focus on behavioural regulation and executive functioning, organisational skills, and coordination.
