Dr. Edith Lee
Dr Lee grew up in Hong Kong and completed her secondary school and university in Hong Kong. She gained a Bachelor degree in Social Work and a Postgraduate Certificate in Psychology at the University of Hong Kong. After practicing as a registered social worker for several years, Dr Lee earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University of Leicester in the UK. She is registered with the UK Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Dr Lee has extensive experience working with children, adolescents and their families in hospital, clinic, social services and school settings. She worked in the general pediatric psychology team in the UK, with young people experiencing different medical conditions, such as diabetes, oncology, epilepsy and chronic pain, that are comorbid with various mental health issues. Moreover, she worked in the Early Intervention teams across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire with early onset psychosis individuals in the UK, managing clients with self-harming and suicidal ideation. Dr Lee is passionate about working with children and young people and supporting them to make sense of their life experiences. She has delivered interventions for a wide range of developmental difficulties and disorders including anxiety, low mood, challenges with behavioural and emotional regulation, interpersonal relationship issues, social and communication problems. Dr Lee works closely with families using systemic approach, to support the sharing of perspectives and building on relational strengths. In addition to this, she works closely with schools, social services and other professionals, to facilitate positive change for young clients in their wider systems.
Dr Lee utilizes evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), schema therapy, systemic and family therapy. She also offers third wave techniques such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). Dr Lee provides psycho-educational assessments for children and adolescents.
In her own time, Dr Lee enjoys all kinds of watersports including swimming and scuba diving. She also loves spending time with her family and her fur babies.
